Dutch Apple pie

  • 100 gram caster sugar
  • 200 gram butter
  • 300 gram flour
  • 1.2 kg of cooking apples
  • 4 teaspoons of sugar (35gr)
  • 1 soupspoon of cinnamon (20 gr)
  • 150 gram of raisins
  • 1 egg


  1. Mix sugar with room temp. butter and add flour. use half off the egg, beaten loose, to form a pastry. Keep 1/4 off the pastry aside and use the rest to line a round cakebase (24 cm diameter). Peel and dice the apples, add the sugar, cinnamon and raisins. Mix well. Put in cake base and cut thin lines from left over pastry to form a checked design on top. Brush the pastry with the rest off the egg. Place in the oven, at 160 degrees (fan oven) for one hour. Serve warm with fresh whipped cream!
